Bishop Emerged from Hiding to Consecrate a Church – Bishop Schneider

Bishop Athanasius Schneider recalled his childhood in the underground Church of the Soviet Union during a talk in Cobh, Ireland, on August 3, AdVaticanum.com reports.
“There were times when we had gatherings like this, but we had to close the windows and the doors because we were checked by the secret police, and we had to hide priests.”
He recounted the story of Bishop Alexander Chira (1897-1983), a clandestine Greek Catholic bishop whom Soviet authorities urged “not to deny Christ, but only to become Orthodox,” thereby breaking communion with Rome.
“He refused,” Bishop Schneider said, and, as a consequence, he was imprisoned in “several concentration camps called gulags.”
Afterward, Bishop Chira lived under house arrest in Karaganda, concealing his identity as a bishop to avoid being sent back. “He could not reveal his identity as a bishop,” Bishop Schneider said. “Otherwise, he would be sent back. So he could only say to the people, ‘I am Father Alexander.’”

Normalization of Pseudo Deaconesses at the Altar: On 26 July, the Parish of Timelkam in the Diocese of Linz, Austria, celebrated the patronal feast of St. Anne in Oberthalheim, reported the parish's Facebook page. As is now common in German-speaking dioceses, a female pastoral assistant, vested in an alb and liturgical scarf, was carrying out liturgical ministry from both the ambo and at the altar during the Eucharist.

The risk of love
Thursday 6 of August - Solemnity of the Transfiguration of the Lord
Jesus, transfiguring himself on Mount Tabor, before the amazed eyes of Peter, James and John, opens a "window", so to speak, on the "future angelic state" that awaits us. Only in this perspective can we understand his heartfelt appeal to love always, everybody, especially the enemies. It is true that if we try to love according to "Jesus' style", we run the risk of "being crucified", but the Father asks us to listen to and follow the example of his beloved Son with unlimited trust, because it is precisely by loving "to the end" , just like Jesus loved, that the glory of the Resurrection is achieved

Mysteries of Light - The Mysteries of the Rosary
Mysteries of Light/Luminous
First Mystery of Light:
The Baptism in the Jordan.

"And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, 'This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased"' (Mt 3:16-17).
Our Father, 10 Hail Marys (contemplating the mystery), Glory be to the Father.

Second Mystery of Light:
The wedding feast of Cana.

"On the third day there was a marriage at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there; Jesus also was invited to the marriage, with his disciples. When the wine failed, the mother of Jesus said to him, 'They have no wine.' And Jesus said to her, 'O woman, what have you to do with me? My hour has not yet come.' His mother said to the servants, 'Do whatever he tells you"' (Jn 2:1-5).

Priest called for ‘Reconquista’ of Morocco after Islamic migrant surge into Spain

Spanish Archdiocese Distances Itself After Priest Calls for Conversion of Morocco

The Archdiocese of Pamplona and Tudela, Spain, has distanced itself on August 5 from comments by one of its priests after he called for the "reconquest of Morocco and its conversion to Christianity" following the invasion into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta.
In a statement, the archdiocese said Rev. Javier Aizpún's remarks were "strictly personal opinions" that "neither represent nor are shared in any way by this diocesan Church."
The controversy stemmed from a post on X.com in which Aizpún, parish priest of San Juan Evangelista in Huarte and a canon of Pamplona Cathedral, wrote: "May Our Lady of Africa, patron saint of Ceuta, inspire the reconquest of Morocco and its conversion to Christianity. May we finish what Queen Isabella the Catholic left undone."
In subsequent posts, he also called for Spain to "bombard Rabat" and "open fire if necessary" in response to the mass crossing of invaders into Ceuta.
Archbishop Florencio Roselló sought an explanation from Rev. Aizpún, describing the …More

Montagna’s piece seems more of an attack of the messenger La Razón and the usual scapegoat, Roche. It is possible that La Razón’s unnamed source is Roche himself. But the point really in all of this is, are they factually inaccurate and wrong as claimed by Montagna? Hardly.
To be frank, Montagna in her piece comes across as desperate, belligerent, and hostile in her attacks of La Razón and Cardinal Roche

Pope Saint Sixtus II - Feast day: 6/7 August
Pope Sixtus II (died 6 August 258) was the Pope or Bishop of Rome from 31 August 257 until his death on 6 August 258. He was martyred along with seven deacons, including Lawrence of Rome during the persecution of the Catholic Church by Emperor Valerian.
According to the Liber Pontificalis, he was born in Greece and was a philosopher; however, this is uncertain, and is disputed by modern western historians arguing that the authors of Liber Pontificalis confused him with that of the contemporary author Xystus, who was a Greek student of Pythagoreanism. He restored the relations with the African and Eastern churches which had been broken off by his predecessor on the question of heretical baptism raised by the heresy Novatianism.
In the persecutions under Valerian in 258, numerous bishops, priests, and deacons were put to death. Pope Sixtus II was one of the first victims of this persecution, being beheaded on 6 August. He was martyred along with …More

Replace "I have to" with "I get to"

Replace "I have to" with "I get to"
One small change in language can completely shift the way you experience your day. Instead of saying, “I have to,” try saying, “I get to.”
For example, when you wake up and think, “I have to go to work today,” replace it with, “I get to go to work today.”
The phrase “I have to” often carries a sense of obligation, frustration, and resistance. It makes an ordinary responsibility feel like a burden. “I get to,” however, redirects your attention toward the opportunity hidden inside the same situation.
“I get to help my child with homework.”
“I get to be exactly who I am.”
“I get to walk to the store and buy groceries.”
“I get to work and support myself.”
“I get to clean a home that gives me shelter.”
“I get to call someone I love.”
The task itself has not changed, but your perspective has. What once felt like an inconvenience can become a reminder that you still have abilities, opportunities, relationships, and choices that should not be taken for granted. …More

FBI Secretly Opened Probe Alleging Trump Fired Comey Because He Was a Russian Asset, Declassified Memos Show

By John Solomon The FBI opened a criminal probe specifically targeting Donald Trump in May 2017, alleging the newly elected president may have been acting as a Russian asset when he fired then-Director James Comey even though the bureau’s own evidence overwhelmingly showed at the time there was no collusion with the Kremlin. Internal FBI memos newly declassified by the White House show the investigation – codenamed Oxferd Comma – was launched in the immediate aftermath of Comey’s May 9, 2017 firing and was predicated on an allegation that previously released records show the bureau’s own agents had mostly dismissed. “The FBI is opening a full investigation based on an articulable factual basis that reasonably indicates that President Donald J. Trump may be or has been, wittingly or unwittingly, involved in activities for or on behalf of the Government of the Russian Federation which may constitute violations of federal criminal law or threats to the national security of the United States …
