Leo XIV has named another LGBT-inclusive bishop to lead a diocese of 670,000 Catholics. Bishop Michael Saporito, who served under Cardinal Joseph Tobin, led a parish that welcomed gay Catholics and their families. He also participated in private dialogues with LGBT Catholics, saying he “felt enriched by the exchange of personal stories.”

Sydney Archbishop: Homosexuals Mocked Catholic Faith Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher noted the producers of a homosexual performance staged inside a former Catholic church on Kent Street deliberately mocked the Catholic faith. Writing in CatholicWeekly.com.au on July 28, a week after hundreds of Catholics gathered outside the venue to pray the Rosary, Archbishop Fisher rejected claims that the show was simply artistic expression. The performances were "not neutral expressions of art" but "a deliberate appropriation, sexualisation, and denigration of symbols and rituals specific and sacred to the Catholic faith." The archbishop cited promotional images showing a pig offering McDonald's fries as the "Body of Christ," male performers dressed as nuns, and events titled "Sunday Mess" and "Unholy Confessions." Pub Meeting (!) and FSSPX Mass Prompt Minnesota Bishop’s Warning Bishop Patrick Neary of Saint Cloud, Minnesota, issued a diocesan warning against the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) after an unauthorized Mass was celebrated in the diocese. In a letter dated September 2, Bishop Neary said he had learned of a social-media post promoting a meeting at the restaurant Opole Pub to “explore bringing the Latin Mass” to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Opole. The same post advertised a Latin Mass for the following day at the Opole Ballpark Pavilion, part of the local baseball grounds. Monsignor Neary wrote that neither event was sanctioned by the diocese. Two pastors in South Korea have been fined 1 million won (about €620) each after loudly preaching on a domestic flight from Jeju to Seoul. They shouted that passengers would “go to hell” if they did not believe in Jesus, while one moved around the cabin. They continued despite instructions from the cabin crew to stop. A Seoul court found that their conduct constituted a disturbance under South Korea’s Aviation Security Act.
The court said the 64-year-old pastor stood in the aisle despite repeated attempts by crew members to stop him and shouted at passengers, “You will go to hell if you don’t believe in Jesus.”

In his monthly prayer intention, he reminds Christians that access to clean water should be a right. “We beg forgiveness that it has been turned into a commodity, forgetting that it is a universal gift, a right without borders.” He encourages Christians to reject waste and pollution and to use natural resources responsibly. This morning, Pope Leo XIV arrived in San Marino, where he was received by the Captains Regent, Alice Mina and Vladimiro Selva, as the Republic and the Holy See mark 100 years of diplomatic relations. At the Basilica of San Marino, he venerated the relics of St. Marinus, the country’s patron saint. He will then continue to Rimini for the Meeting for Friendship Among Peoples, stopping along the way at the Augustinian nuns’ monastery in Pennabilli.
