The Peruvian naturalization file of Robert Prevost preserves a handwritten letter in which he expressed his desire to remain in Peru “for the rest of my life.” The documentation, held by Peru’s National Superintendency of Migration, records the process through which the American-born Prevost obtained Peruvian citizenship in 2015 after years of pastoral work in the country.
