At least 20 Christians were killed in an overnight attack on the village of Kawel in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, central Nigeria, police said Monday. Among the victims were a doctor and five patients. Police said heavily armed attackers opened fire on residents before setting homes ablaze. Catholic priest Robert Emeršič, 51, died on June 14 after suffering a severe allergic reaction to a wasp sting while celebrating the Eucharist in Planica, Slovenia. He was a priest in the Archdiocese of Maribor and served as the parish priest in Rače. Born on 28 May 1975, he was ordained as a priest in 2008.
