During today’s Regina Caeli prayer, Leo XIV paid tribute to his predecessor for his “great witness of faith and love.”
Francis died on Easter Monday last year (April 21, 2025) at the age of 88. Leo XIV said, “In the light of the Risen Lord, we remember Pope Francis today with special affection.”
Fittingly, he warned that the truth is often obscured by fake news, “that is, by lies, insinuations, and unfounded suspicions.”

Pope Francis’ post-synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia, published on April 8, 2016, was a “breakthrough” for the Church.
